WHAT TO DO IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE A CLAIM FOR MALPRACTICE

If you believe that you have a claim for malpractice against a health care provider the first thing you should be aware of is the statute of limitations on such claims.  In Alaska any claim against a health care provider must be brought within two years of the harm or within two years that the harm should have reasonably been discovered.  So, don’t waste time.  If you think you have a claim, contact an attorney to discuss the situation.  It cannot hurt to consult with an attorney though it can hurt to delay.  Please be aware that these cases are not usually brought unless the damages suffered are significant.
